Alice de Sousa

On the London stage Ms. de Sousa has played leading
roles in some thirty productions including Anne Boleyn in Anne of the Thousand Days; Hermione in The Winter’s Tale; Ophelia in Hamlet; Marina in Pericles; Elvira in Blithe Spirit; and Millamant in The Way of the World.

Ms. de Sousa has produced over sixty professional theatre productions. And between 1996 to 1998, she produced some forty plays for Galleon T.C. at The Prince Theatre Greenwich, where she also appeared as the lead in Celestina by Fernando de Rojas; the Duchess in The Duchess of Malfi; Juliet in Romeo and Juliet; Lady Macbeth in Macbeth; and Dona Madalena in Almeida Garrett’s The Pilgrim. In the Summer of 1999 she produced an Open-air Shakespearean Festival at The Well Hall Pleasaunce, Eltham; and in February 2000, Never
Nothing From No One
at the Cockpit Theatre. On the 30th May 2000, she and Bruce Jamieson re-opened the Greenwich Playhouse. And since has produced sell out/acclaimed productions of Hamlet; Company (and its transfer to the Palace Theatre, Westcliffe);
Pygmalion; Richard III; You’re Gonna Love Tomorrow; Peep Show; Hedda Gabler in which she played the title role; The Crime of Father Amaro; Cousin Basílio; Shadows on the Sun; The Importance of Being Earnest; 3 Sisters; The White Devil; 'Tis Pity She's a Whore and The Maias which she adapted for the stage and played the role of Maria Eduarda.

In 1997, Ms. de Sousa was awarded an MA in Portuguese Studies from King’s College, London and previously graduated from South Bank University with a first class degree in EEC Law.
